Update on my urban journey

I decided that Limerick City was to large to randomly explore as an artist,  too many distractions. In order to concentrate my research I choose a specific area. This way I could re visit the same area to gather as much information as required.

I walked the area a couple of times a day gathering information on texture, colour and unintentional marks. During this process I started to notice Man hole covers. I was surprised by this unexpected development. Surprised I hadn't noticed them before.  These mundane everyday objects that scream urban.

They come in a variety of designs each one representing a different meaning for Limerick Council.
I mapped the area  using the foot path  manhole covers as references. I gathered surface rubbings to record design and patterns. While doing this I started to wonder what is the view like for a manhole? Always looking up. Imagining the daily traffic across its face everyday? What could I tell about the area using this method?

Now I am excited about the possibilities of where these ideas can take me.
